The Heaviest Load of Texas Department of Transportation!
Vehicles traveling at 10 miles per day are probably something you are not used to seeing on this website. For most of the time the length is measured in quarter miles and time is measured in seconds but if the product you are moving is a steam engine made by the Japanese company Toshiba and it weights around 1.7 million pounds, then it suddenly all makes sense. The 39 feet wide and 18 feet high machine was transported almost 250 miles using a rig that was specially made for the load that was as long as a football field. Crossing roughly 250 miles and 82 bridges on 520 tires without major problems was something to admire. This was the heaviest thing ever to be transported over such a distance by the Texas Department of Transportation that used Mammoet equipment to get the job done right.
