Illegal off-roading has hazardous consequences on Palmer Hay Flats!

In Alaska they have a different problem related to vehicles. This winter has been pretty warm so people that usually drive off road and across the ice like they have other years , this time they do not make it to the other side. Although as they explain there are numerous signs and warnings not to do it without a permit, people still take their vehicles of the paved road for some fun. This year it has not been so much fun for drivers of two vehicles. A Jeep and a Ford that were trying to drive on the ice have fallen thru. The even bigger problem is not just damaging their vehicles but getting slapped with a fine of up to $10.000 Aside from that they still have to pay for removing their vehicle out of the ice with a special wrecker vehicle. At the moment of the making of the video the Ford had to wait in it’s frozen prison for another couple of days for the crew to come cut the ice around it and tow it out once the special towing vehicle is available.
